SWAT Party Bus | Case study

280% more organic traffic and $280K in booking value for a Gold Coast party bus.

The bottom line

312 paid leads at $7.12 each, from 42,000 local searches.

From 4,180 clicks on high-intent local searches.

Hens nights, bucks nights and event transport, captured at the moment people were planning.

That’s $280,800 in booking value from Google Ads alone.

At an average booking value of around $900.

Even at a 30% close rate that is 94 bookings and roughly $84,600 banked.
Add the organic leads and the year clears $300,000 in opportunity.
We built SWAT a local search position and a paid campaign that feed each other, so the Gold Coast finds them first and books direct.

Client overview

SWAT Party Bus is a rolling entertainment venue on the Gold Coast. Limo-style seating, nightclub audio and lighting, LED screens and BYO music.
Hens nights, bucks nights, birthdays and corporate events, all with a driver and a fixed price.
It is not transport. It is where the night starts.
The product was never the problem. Being found was.

The challenge

Despite a standout offer, SWAT was invisible for the searches that mattered: party bus hire Gold Coast, hens and bucks packages, event transport and the high-intent local terms around them.
The site had real gaps in technical health, on-page optimisation and content depth.
Google Business Profile activity was thin and local citations were inconsistent, so the map pack had no reason to trust them.
There was no blog strategy and no topical authority sitting behind the service pages.
Our approach

Local authority first, then paid acceleration.

Rankings on their own are slow. Ads on their own are expensive. We built the organic position first, then put paid spend behind the terms that were already converting.
01.

Phase 1
Audit and technical foundation

A full audit across technical SEO, on-page structure, content gaps, backlink health and navigation gave us the roadmap.
Then the sitewide fixes: metadata corrections, crawlability and indexation work, image optimisation, structured data and mobile refinements.
Site health score moved 37 to 54 to 60 to 65. Indexing issues that were keeping service pages and blogs out of Google entirely were resolved.
02.

Phase 2
Owning the map pack

On the Gold Coast, the map pack is the shopfront. Three layers of work put SWAT in it.

Layer 1
Google Business Profile

Four high-impact posts on the core services, seven optimised products with accurate descriptions, pricing and URLs, then ongoing batches to hold ranking activity.

Layer 2
Citations

Eighteen high-authority listings built in batches, every one NAP-consistent, so the local signals stopped contradicting each other.

Layer 3
Review velocity

A steady flow of new Google reviews rather than a one-off push. Review velocity moved map rankings more directly than any other single input.
03.

Phase 3
Content and topical authority

More than 20 Gold Coast targeted blog assets, written for people planning an event rather than for a keyword tool: boat party versus night cruise, how to plan a hens or bucks night, what is included in party bus hire, and the BYO rules people actually ask about.
Plus 10 SEO-driven Q&As built from real People Also Ask queries, and seven key pages reoptimised for metadata, headings, internal linking and readability.
04.

Phase 4
Paid search behind proven intent

With the organic position holding, we put paid spend behind the terms already proving intent: party bus hire on the Gold Coast, hens party bus hire and bucks party bus hire.
Ad scheduling was weighted to 7pm through midnight, because that is when the enquiries actually came. Retargeting ran alongside, converting 2.4 times higher than cold audiences.
What the data told us

Most enquiries landed between 7pm and midnight

People plan a night out at night. Once we saw it in the data, ad scheduling was weighted to those hours and cost per lead fell.

Retargeted visitors converted 2.4x higher than cold

Group bookings are a committee decision. People come back before they commit, so the budget followed them rather than chasing new clicks.

Why the cost per lead stayed low

$7.12 a lead in a competitive Gold Coast market is not normal. It held because the organic work had already told us which terms convert, so paid spend went behind proven intent rather than guesswork, and scheduling followed the hours people actually book.

What the organic position delivered

280% growth in organic traffic, 158% more visibility in the local map pack, and more than 150 new Google Business interactions a month. Rankings improved across every core keyword.

What the client says

“Working with Brock at Ilett Digital has been a game changer for us. Our enquiries have increased through Google Ads, which has turned into sales for our transport services. So much so, I may need another bus to keep up with the demand.”

Common questions

How long before local SEO starts showing?
Technical fixes and Google Business Profile work move the map pack within weeks. Content and citation authority build over months. SWAT's site health score climbed in stages, from 37 to 54 to 60 to 65, and the ranking gains followed it.
Why run ads if the SEO is working?
Because they are not competing, they are compounding. Organic told us which terms actually convert, and paid put budget behind exactly those. That is why the cost per lead landed at $7.12 rather than the market rate.
What made the biggest single difference?
Review velocity. A steady flow of new Google reviews moved map rankings more directly than any other input. Hens night content was a close second, converting better than any other topic.
Does this work outside the Gold Coast?
Yes. The framework is local authority first, then paid behind the proven terms. It applies to any service business where the buyer searches by location and the map pack decides who gets called.
